PERTUNIA SIBANYONI – CEO, InspectaCar (Pty) Limited

Pertunia Sibanyoni is the CEO of InspectaCar (Pty) Limited. She oversees business operations for both the franchise and financial services and is responsible for building the InspectaCar brand.

Pertunia hails from Witbank, Mpumalanga. Born to both the late Reuben and Meidjie Sibanyoni, Pertunia is the fifth out of six children. As a young girl, she has always had a curious but eager-to-succeed approach. She always did things outside the norm and being daddy’s little girl, this afforded her the opportunity to be much bolder and have the drive to follow her dreams.

She is a proud mother to her only son eight-year-old Akhumzi, popularly known as “AK”, who has been her mini pillar of strength. He inspired her to take up Latin American dancing professionally. AK himself has been successful in many provincial, national and international hip hop only competitions. He has also appeared on the national television show: eTV Great Expectations Little Stars as well as on SABC. He has also featured as a dancer for two hip hop artists. He currently holds the 2018 Tiny Tots Gauteng and both under 11 SA and World Title Circuit Hip Hop Champion titles.

Pertunia is a graduate of the University of Durban Westville and holds a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Psychology and Physiology, and a post graduate diploma and Honours in Marketing Management. Pertunia recently completed a Leadership Programme from The University of Pretoria's Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and is due to graduate on the 30th of July 2019.

Pertunia is and has always been a change-maker, and a trail blazer which is evident in her ability to work in a male dominated industry. Prior to her appointment as CEO, Pertunia was the retail transformation manager at Shell South Africa. Her career at Shell spanned 12 years, starting as a retail area manager in 2004, where she became the first Black African female Area Manager for the company. Thereafter she was appointed into the Shell Graduate Recruitment programme which offered her an opportunity to engage in a leadership initiative with graduates from across the globe in The Hague, Netherlands. Thereafter she held various roles as Retail Lubricants Sales Manager, Change Agent, Dealer Owned and Central Region District Manager accountable for over 170 service stations. She was also a Board Member for the Shell Transformation Board and a Director for the Ngwaabe Integrated Energy Centre and Compliance Project Lead for the Shell Refining and Marketing Merger.

She is the founder of the AkhuPeliza Foundation which is dedicated to addressing and delivering on social benefits of a community. She dedicates her birthday, in June every year, to spending time with more than 50 school kids (providing school uniforms and shoes) and elderly ladies from the Phiri community. She also collaborated with the Visionary Youth to make a meaningful difference and build confidence levels to the young girls in Soweto by providing sanitary towels to the needy learners, and AkhuPeliza sponsored 71 matric dance dresses and 300 packs of sanitary towels 3 months before their matric examinations.

Pertunia is passionate about empowerment and women’s leadership as well as mentorship. She is currently formally mentoring two young black females at WesBank and one black female who she met at the 30% Club networking session. She recognises that having a mentor herself is very important and is being mentored by Leadership and Strategy guru, Tony Frost. She has inspired and continues to inspire people in showing the way and proving what’s possible – especially (but not exclusively) for women. She clearly demonstrates the different routes to becoming successful from a range of backgrounds.

Pertunia’s accolades are extensive, clearly demonstrating her leadership capabilities:
